Waste Vegetable Oil in the EU

There are international agreements on the transportation of waste.

Waste vegetable oil is treated as waste and therefore you need to register with a competent authority in order to collect, import or tansport it. Here is a list of bodies you can register with:
http://ec.europa.eu/environment/waste/shipments/pdf/list_competent_authorities.pdf
If you are planning on traveling across borders, I think you need to register in each country individually.

When taking waste edible oils from one EU country to another for recycling as fuel, you do not need to notify the authorities each time.

Please post as much info as possible regarding the use of WVO when traveling in Europe. This will help all of us to be more informed what to expect when traveling there. If European Parliament wants to reduce air pollution it must put in place clear regulations regarding using WVO and SVO as fuels for personal use. These fuels pollute up to 80% less compared to standard mineral diesel. Let do our bit to safe the Environment

Val,

The problem with WVO is that it is waste, and there are lots of EU regulations designed to prevent people disposing of waste in a way that damages the environment.

The result of these rules is that you are supposed to register as a waste carrier in each country where you transport WVO. If you generate the WVO yourself, by frying chips, and transport it within the same country, the rules are slightly different.

Whether any officials enforce the rules is another question, to which I don't have an answer.

Steven.
